He was a Cheyenne warrior who was captured by the U.S. government and imprisoned in Florida, where a young Army captain noticed his talents and exposed him to the Christian faith. He was baptized and undertook a ministry of peace and reconciliation among the Native American tribes of the Indian Territory.
