From 2012: Bethlehem, Pennsylvania sponsors a nightly "living Advent calendar" to draw people downtown. People gather in front of a house, a guest is chosen to knock on the door, and someone comes out to offer everyone treats. Townspeople know what and who their city is named for.

Advent band, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, 2012. Ordinarily the band shows up in surprise locations downtown to entertain and encourage Christmas shoppers. At the end of the playlist, hosts at the (not-surprised) location invite the band inside for warmth and refreshment.
