Florence Li Tim-Oi, ordained a priest on an emergency basis in World War II, went through a lot of suffering in her life, including being confined in a “re-education” camp in China and widespread controversy about her vocation, but Canadians rejoiced to receive her as a priest in 1981. She is a beloved symbol today in the West. (source unknown)
