Tewkesbury Abbey was a Benedictine monastery founded in the 12th century. After the Dissolution of the Monasteries, the king sold it back to the parishioners for 500 pounds. It continues today as an Anglo-Catholic parish which emphasizes the Daily Office. (parish website)
