Wulfstan was an English abbot-bishop, one of the few who kept his seat after William the Conqueror invaded. Wulfstan gradually impressed the French with his wisdom and saintliness. With Archbishop of Canterbury Lanfranc, he worked to end the kidnapping of English people and selling them into slavery in Ireland. (Worcester Cathedral)
