The Rev. Gretchen Rehberg was elected IX Bishop of Spokane, Washington on Saturday. She has been rector of Nativity, Lewiston, for ten years, and chairs the diocesan Commission on Ministry. She has two doctorates and is a former professor of organic chemistry, as well as a former firefighter and emergency medical technician. Pending consents she will become the 59th female bishop in the Anglican Communion and the first in Spokane, a diocese covering eastern Washington and northern Idaho. (via Episcopal News Service)
