Henry Muhlenberg did not found Augustus Lutheran Church in Trappe, Pennsylvania in 1712, 1717 or any other time; he came to it in 1742, served as its first permanent pastor, and designed and built this building, the oldest Lutheran church in America – now the “Old Church” which the congregation still uses in the summer and at Christmas.
