A patron of the Stonewall Inn yelling at police officers on the night of 28 June 1969 in New York City, which led to three nights of unrest and kicked off the worldwide LGBTQ+ rights movement. Rocks and bottles were thrown, a parking meter was ripped out of the sidewalk; for a riot it was pretty tame, but for three nights the protests grew bigger and took more police to bring under control. Last year the New York Police Commissioner made an official apology to Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Trans Americans. (Bettye Lane)
