A B-17 bomber from World War II crashed at an air show in Hartford, Connecticut, last week, killing 7 people and injuring 8. The pilot, Ernest McCauley, age 75, of Long Beach, California, and co-pilot Michael Foster, 71 of Jacksonville, Florida, both very experienced with this aircraft, were among the dead, along with five passengers; flight engineer Mitchell Melton, 34, of Dalehart, Texas was also injured, as were a firefighter and an airport worker on the ground. A member of the Connecticut Air National Guard, 103rd Airlift Wing, Chief Master Sgt. James M. Traficante was onboard the aircraft and helped injured passengers escape despite being hurt himself; he was treated at the hospital and is expected to recover. (Jessica Hill/AP)
