StMargaret of Cortona.Ecstasy of.Ubaldo Gandolfi

Ubaldo Gandolfi, c. 1768: St. Margaret of Cortona. She is the patron saint of unwed mothers, being one herself; her son became a friar. This is one of a series of Gandolfi paintings of the saints, and aptly enough it hangs in the Palazzo Rossi Poggi Marsili in Bologna, Italy, the former Charity Home for the Shameful Poor.
