President Biden announced Tuesday that all U.S. troops will be out of Afghanistan by 9/11, regardless of conditions or prior agreements, superseding a May 1 deadline agreed to by the previous government. It will be the 20th anniversary of the 2001 terror attacks on Washington, New York City and Shanksville, Pennsylvania – directed from Afghanistan – which provoked the war. Biden said the only U.S. troops left will guard the U.S. Embassy. Biden reportedly feels that any deal that depends on Taliban performance provides the latter an excuse to prolong the war; instead the U.S. president decides what U.S. troops will do. He spoke at a memorial service in the U.S. Capitol for C apitol Police officer William Evans, who was killed when a motorist deliberately plowed into him at a checkpoint. (J.
