Re-emerging.Chenmiao Shi

The assignment, for students in the advanced illustration class at the School of Visual Arts in New York, was to create magazine covers for the iconic New Yorker magazine on the pandemic one year later. One entry featured a family around a holiday dinner table with one chair empty; all of them aim to tell a story. This one, by Chenmiao Shi, is optimistic with the onset of spring. Design professor Tomer Hanuka posted several student images on Twitter and sent them viral; then they changed the name of the magazine so no one would mistake them for the real thing.
