The newest claimant for world’s longest footbridge opened Sunday in Arouca, Portugal; it’s a suspension bridge 1700 feet (500 meters) long and 574 feet above the River Paiva as it flows through a waterfall. It was built as a tourist attraction, not to meet a need to traverse the canyon; It costs €10-12 ($12-14), no children under 6 allowed, and a guide must cross with you. (Sergio Azenha/AP)
