Riots in Belgium and the Netherlands Saturday night after Morocco defeated Belgium in the World Cup. As if corrupt FIFA and homophobic Qatar weren’t enough reason to shun the World Cup, violent “fans” provide more, with cars set on fire and police pelted with broken glass in Brussels, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Liège, Amsterdam and The Hague. Fans of other sports have misbehaved after loosing too. When people get too passionate about something they can forget how to behave. And it happens not just in sports, but in religion and politics too, as history has shown time and time again.
