Kamehameha & Emma 1859

Kinf Kamehameha IV was concerned about the the increasing influence of American businessmen and their Calvinist missionaries (who were often the same persons), so he invited the royalist Church of England to Hawaii as his preferred church. He and Emma established St. Andrew’s Cathedral, which she built after the king died young. (source unknown)
