Preaching at Abyssinian Baptist Church, Harlem, New York City, founded in 1808 by seamen from Ethiopia to protest racial segregation in the pews. The current building was finished in 1923 in Gothic Revival and Tudor Revival styles; the congregation is affiliated with both the American Baptist Churches and the National Baptist Convention. Distinguished pastors, famous guests and dedicated members have kept the church prominent for 215 years. (source unknown)
