Former U.S. First Lady Barbara Bush has died; wife of President George Bush, mother of President George W. Bush. She was feisty and opinionated underneath that white hair, with shrewd political instincts and a great sense of humor. She kept the family together through many changes of address, government positions and world travels, one of the most admired women of her day. Services will be held at St. Martin’s, Houston, on Saturday. (Scott Olson)
