Economy Recovers from Covid.Rich Pedroncelli AP

The U.S. economy has fully recovered from Covid-19, the Commerce Department announced, in a report that found 6.5% annualized growth in the second quarter, surpassing the Gross Domestic Product before the pandemic. Economists were expecting 8% growth last quarter, but worldwide supply-chain disruptions subtracted 1.1% of national production. Consumer spending rose 11% and business spending rose 8% annualized, far above the usual rate of 3% or less. Above: a man walks past the unemployment office in Sacramento, California.
